Are you a moving company?
Yes — Middlesex Movers is a fully licensed and insured Boston, MA moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with a Massachusetts DPU household-goods permit and US DOT and MC authority.
How much does a local move cost?
Local moves run a flat $175/hr for 2 movers and a truck, or $225/hr for a 3-mover crew, with a 1-hour minimum. Blankets, dollies, and shrink-wrap are included, and we lock the rate in writing before we load.
Do you handle Boston street parking and permits?
Yes. South End, Back Bay, and Somerville triple-decker blocks are mostly resident-permit parking, so we pull permits or cones ahead of move day and stage a shuttle-load plan when a full-size truck can't park right outside.
Can you move me on September 1st?
We plan for it every year — Ray Doherty runs our Sept-1-turnover crews specifically for Massachusetts' citywide lease-changeover day. Book early, since it's our busiest day across every Middlesex and Boston college-adjacent neighborhood.
Do you move long distance out of Massachusetts?
Yes, under our US DOT and MC authority. Your belongings stay on one truck with one crew for the whole trip — no relay to a different driver or warehouse partway through.
How does insurance and coverage work?
Every move includes $0.60/lb released-value protection, with full-value coverage available up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. Our crews carry their own insurance on every job.
Do you handle high-rise or condo moves in the Seaport?
Yes. We coordinate the certificate of insurance and freight-elevator booking window with the building management ahead of time, so the crew isn't waiting around on move day.
Will the same crew load and unload my truck?
On local moves, yes — the same crew that loads in the morning is the one that unloads at your new place. We don't hand off to a different crew or subcontractor partway through.
Do you offer packing services?
Our full-pack crew comes the day before your move and packs the entire home — dishes, mirrors, closets — so you're ready to go when the truck arrives.
Do you offer short-term storage between moves?
Yes, climate-controlled storage with your inventory kept on a dedicated pallet — useful for Sept-1 turnovers or any move with a gap between closing dates.

Middlesex Movers is ready when you are.

Send over your ZIP codes and moving date and a written flat-rate number is usually back in your hands within the hour — from the same uniformed crew and trucks that show up on your actual move day, no last-minute surprises.
